SEQUOIA CLIMBING SPACE COMPETITION

The following is a proposal to redesign the space of  the National Sequoia Park in California. Walking throught the giant trees forest is a breathtaking experience. People are used to walk around the nature. Instead of this kind of entertainment this project provides a new way of enjoying the nature - walking not only around but also under the trees.

Central element of the proposal is specially designed capsule that contains all necessary functions and aerophonic research lab that brings educational aspect to the designed area. Its form creates interaction between visitor and giant sequoias giving unique sence.

The core tree is ‘planted on a planet’. It is an alegory to Little Prince written by  Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Because of temperature difference the underground tubes attracts and collect the water necessary to irrigate the tree.

The lights of the core interior are made as a ‘light roots’. It refers to roots of the planted tree and iluminate rooms to make it more accessible.
