OLYMPIA - EVOLO 2016 COMPETITION PROPOSAL
The History
Olympic Games are leading international sporting event held every four years in different place. Once in every four years they are organized in different country chosen in special lottery. For the time of this event every conflict is postponed which is great opportunity to prevent many global tragedies.
Economic impract
Every country chosen to host Olympic Games has to prepare appropriate infrastructure and always claims that they will re-use the buildings afterwards. Some of them seem to be on their way to succeeding but in the most cases the stadiums are abandoned such as Athens Olympic Sports Complex, Barcelona, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Montreal, Lake Placid, Rome or Sarajevo. It is caused by huge expenditure for a hosting country (for example 50 bilion dollars in Sochii) and lack of development plan for objects not matched for the urban scale. It is an example of wasting public funds and well located land for one-time entertainment. Total oraganization cost of last 3 olympic games reached an outrageous number of $110 billion. By using that amout of money and resources more resonably, new metropolis with all necessary infrastructures, for 450 000 to 550 000 people could be built.
Re-cycle
The following is a proposal to recycle old olympic stadiums located in countries that hosted games before and re-use them again instead of wasting land and money for new facilities. It is possible by creating special movable structures which can be assembled together creating a new type of skyscrapper matching its form depending on environment.
4D Printing structure
The construction of each stadium shelter is possible to product using 4D self-folding Fibre. Each element is created in the same dimmensions and in bending process it adjust itself to the spherical shape connecting to each other. By electromagnetic attraction the spheres are assembling together creating one superunit collecting all stadiums and olympic facilities in one place.
Re-use.
After the games are finished, each sphere can be disassembled and shipped or transported to other country hosting next Olympics. It is giving chance to arrange this event in countries which are not able to arrange it from own budget.
